The purpose of the NACCHO Ochre Day is to not only share knowledge & explore ways to encourage male of all ages to access their local Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service, but also allows us to;
• Build on the recommendations and outcomes from the male only sessions at the NACCHO AGM/Members meeting in November each year as well as to provide an opportunity to draw national public awareness to Aboriginal male health, and social and emotional wellbeing; as well as;
• NACCHO Ochre Day providing us an opportunity to ‘showcase’ exemplars of best practice in Aboriginal male health service delivery within Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services.
Below is an outline of the activities planned for this years event;
Day One (3rd Sept)
Will follow the same format as last year’s event, with the NACCHO Ochre Day Breakfast to be held at a venue TBC.
This will be followed by a short walk to where the rest of the Ochre Day will take place.
NACCHO Ochre Day Jaydon Adams Memorial Oration Dinner (Evening of the 3rd Sept)
So soon after the NACCHO Ochre Day in 2013 in Canberra we all became aware of the sudden & sad passing of Brother Jaydon Adams. Jaydon participated in co-launching the NACCHO Blueprint for Aboriginal Male Healthy Futures alongside NACCHO Chair Mr Justin Mohamed, local Elder Uncle Warren Daly & Prof Pat Dudgeon. NACCHO, along with Jaydon’s Family warmly invites everyone to join us at this dinner to honour a strong young Aboriginal Man. Venue TBC (we request that if you are attending this dinner then please register early as there is limited seating.)
Day Two (4th Sept) This day will begin with a facilitated workshop that will focus on a range of issues. Time will also be set aside to allow for yarning circles for the sharing of knowledge & skills. The venue for Day Two has yet to be confirmed!
Please note that only the “breakfast” on Day One and all of Day Two are Male only.
Female Collegues are invited to participate in activities held in the park (includes lunch) and the Dinner on the evening of the 21st August.
