NACCHO recently announced that the Manager of Projects Janine Milera (pictured above )will be leaving NACCHO after 6 years dedicated service to Aboriginal Community Controlled Health
Speaking about her time at NACCHO Ms Milera said
“I’m so proud to have worked for NACCHO for the past 6 years – it is the living embodiment of our people, strong and resilient and ours – hence I will always be protective of it and like my mum taught me I’ll never forget where I came from.
To be able to leave is made easier by knowing the organisation is vibrant, strong and in the wonderful hands of a woman who I know has dedicated her life to our Sector (emphasis on life!) and who I am proud to say is my colleague and sista (CEO Lisa Briggs)”

Ms Anne Maree Maher, the President of the Congress of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Nurses (CATSIN), at the same time announced the appointment of Ms Janine Milera as the new Chief Executive Officer of CATSIN.
“The CATSIN Board is thrilled with the appointment,” said Ms Maher.
“Janine is a great fit for CATSIN. She has the ability and talent to lead CATSIN on into the future as a strong and influential voice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander nurses and midwives.”
Ms Milera, a Narrunga Kaurna woman from South Australia, has a background in nursing, management, workforce policy and has worked for many years within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health sector at both a state and national level.
“I am pleased to be joining the national peak organisation representing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander nurses and midwives,” said Ms Milera.
“I look forward to working with the Board, our members and partners to strengthen and support a strong Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workforce.”
“I have always respected CATSIN’s founding Director Dr Sally Goold, OAM,” said Ms Milera.
“I admire her strength and resilience as she worked tirelessly for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander nurses and midwives in Australia. I am keen to build on her great work and the solid foundation she has provided.”
Ms Milera will commence at CATSIN on 17 June 2013.
