After 14 years at NACCHO (and total of 20 years in ACCHS sector), Dr Sophie Couzos is moving on to an exciting position with James Cook University (School of Medicine and Dentistry, Townsville), as ‘Associate Professor in General Practice and Rural Health’

The NACCHO Secretariat was established in 1997 under the leadership of the late great Dr Puggy Hunter, and Dr Couzos said it was an honor to work side by side with him for 3 years, and subsequent NACCHO Chairs (to our present Mr Justin Mohamed), and the NACCHO Board and all our CEOs (from our first- Mr Steve Larkin- see pic) throughout these years.

I have been fortunate to have established/conceived (and implemented) many programs and developed many resources over this time, and to see these making such a difference to peoples lives across Australia gives me great satisfaction.I have loved working with you all and thank you for the good times over these 14 years!.” Dr Couzos said at her farewell.
