7. General Practice Education and Training (GPET)

Major Concerns: The nature of communication and consultation by GPET with our sector continues to be concerning. Recently NACCHO attended a consultation and evaluation meeting of the GPET officers in Melbourne. The Institute for Innovation in Business and Social Research (IIBSoR), University of Wollongong is undertaking the evaluation of the funding and contractual agreements between GPET and the six Affiliates.

 NACCHO has only played a peripheral role in the initiative that is being evaluated; however NACCHO’s position through out the evaluation and in future discussions with GPET is that affiliates should continue to receive funding for the GPET program.
